Who We Are

The Valkyrie Initiative is a 501(c3) nonprofit organization founded to provide girls and women of all ages with the opportunity to experience the transformative power of ice hockey. We believe that the skills learned through the sport, such as leadership, teamwork, and community, are invaluable and should be accessible to all.

What We Do

1

Education

We Make Change happen! From learn to skate/play programs to mentoring women who want to coach. We aim to help you achieve your goals, what ever they may be.

2

Clinics and Camps

Our programming is designed to develop players on and off the ice. All of our camps have spots sponsored by our community to help provide quality clinics that are accessible for all players.

3

Local Advocacy

We want to develop great hockey players, but more importantly, we want to develop a well-rounded community. Giving back and building up our community is a pillar of our programs.

Why its Important

Hockey is more than just a game; it's a powerful tool for building confidence, resiliency, and leadership in women.

Of all women in executive leadership roles, 94% were once athletes. Girls who participate in sports 92% more likely to be confident and have higher graduation rates compared to their non-athlete peers.

Despite these benefits, only 26% of high school girls play sports compared to 41% of boys, and barriers remain a significant obstacle for many young female athletes.
